Friends,
As you know, there are over 46 million Americans today who are without health insurance. Many of these individuals go to work every day but are in jobs that either their employer cannot afford to offer insurance, or they, as the employee, cannot afford to purchase the insurance. So where are working people, poor people and sick people supposed to go for medical or dental care? Too often these are some of the people who end up in the hospital emergency room because they had nowhere else to go when they caught the flu or their blood sugar level elevated or they ran out of blood pressure medicine.
As a community health center, we make ourselves available to this population because of the federal grant dollars we receive through Health Resource Services Administration and the Bureau of Primary Health Care. Unfortunately, the grant dollars received only cover one-third of our budget used to pay for not only the medical and dental care, but for the doctors, nurses, supplies, clinical, dental and office staff needed to render quality health care to all of our patients; insured as well as uninsured.
A donation from you will:
• Allow us to serve just one more uninsured person,
• Pay for a patient’s medication refill, to prevent further complications and expenses,
• Allow a person who has diabetes to get the treatment he/she needs,
• Allow a single parent to get her children immunizations and school physicals, and
• Pay co-pay for those that are on a sliding fee scale.
Your donation, no matter how small or large, will make all the difference in the world to someone who is uninsured. We want to say, thank you in advance for the precious gift of health.
